Introduction Michigan is ranked 8th among the 50 states of U.S. Michigan is located in Great Lakes region of southwestern United States. Michigan was admitted to the U.S union in 1837 as 26th state. Michigan is governed as a republic with three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. Michigan has a bicameral legislature, which comprises of 38-members in Senator and 110-members in House of Representatives. Senators have a four-year term while representatives have two-year term. The governor of Michigan serves a four year term and the executive branch is led by the governor. The judicial branch consists of one court of justice.
