Flint a city in Genesee County was once known as "Buick City". The community was named for the Flint River located 66 miles (106 km) northwest of Detroit.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 88.2 km² (34.1 mi²). 87.1 km² (33.6 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it (1.26%) is water.
