Michigan : Tourist Hot Spots

Michigan is the state that consists of two parts split by water.  It is surrounded by four of the five great lakes and stretched by a long shoreline. Its golden beaches, wildlife, rocky islands and sandy shoreline provide an ultimate destination to the visitors from outside.

Detroit:

The city has almost all the modes of entertainment that can surely give a rejuvenate experience to its visitor. Earlier it was the capital of the state but after the shifting of state headquarters, Lansing is the current capital of the state. It is the place for automobile invention and is one of the largest and most prosperous areas of the country.
  • Detroit Institute of Arts: The center reflects the labor history of city’s 18th century along with the art works of China, American art and culture .Many masterpieces of European painting, including works by Rembrandt, Matisse and Picasso are the glory of the institute.
  • Belle Isle: The place is an ideal picnic spot and a picturesque island. It is located between E Jefferson Ave and E Grand Blvd bridges and near the Detroit River. It consists of beautiful parkland, hiking trails, sports facilities and other attractions that include Aquarium, Safari Zoo, Botanical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
  • Wright Museum of African American History: It is an outstanding museum that is known as the cultural center of the city houses full scale model of slaves illustrate the condition of them in 18th century slave ship period of African American History.
  • Motown Museum: A small string house that was occupied from 1957 to 1972 by the studio where Berry Gordy launched Motown Records in 1959.Visitors can see the actual recordings of Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and others produced hit songs.
Grand Rapids:
Grand Rapids is among the largest cities of state Michigan and is known for office furniture manufacturing. It is located in the Grand river valley approximately 30 miles east of Lake Michigan. The presence of the Lake influences the climate of the region.
  • Frederik Meijer Gardens: The 118 acre landscape garden features impressive blooms and sculptures from all around the world. The indoor galleries houses sculptures by internationally renowned artists.
Straits of Mackinac:
The region is between the upper and lower Peninsulas features long history of forts and shops. It is among the state’s premier tourist draws and Mackinac Bridge is among the most spectacular sights of the area, spans the Straits of Mackinac.
  • Mackinac Island: It is officially known as the first tourist destination of state Michigan.One can visit the island only through the horses or bicycles because there is complete ban on using the cars and other carbon conveyance to encourage tourism in the region.
  • Fort Mackinac: One of the best preserved military forts of the country and also include interactive exhibits.
Isle Royale National Park: 
An island in Lake Superior is a place of natural beauty and varied topography. It is densely populated with many lakes, streams and hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy the rich wilderness in dense deciduous forests and rich wildlife.
